Join us for the launch of Mind Your Heads, a new performance and installation by artist Marcia Farquhar. Mind Your Heads will encompass 3 conjoined wheelie bins that will nomadically manoeuvre throughout the friary and on designated occasions be activated by the artist as she orchestrates a three-way conversation. As well as hosting the divided self these makeshift pulpits will provide spaces from which three ideologically opposed speakers will move further and closer to each other in space, time and paradoxical speech. Read More...

Emma Smith
Greyfriars Residency

Artist Artist Emma Smith is conducting a call for songs, as part of a 12-month residency at Greyfriars. Developing a series of public events, Emma Smith will be working with local residents to develop a new song for our building.  Thursday 17th May 2012 will see a new notice board installed at Greyfriars, the notice board acts as a visual reference and information point for Emma Smith's journey in developing a new song as well as providing details of later events as part of her residency.

Mistaken Presence is a 12-month curated project that explores the mechanics of archiving to develop a number of new works that re-look at the histories associated with the friary building and it's original province. Through a series of new artist commissions, talks and events Mistaken Presence will respond to local historical narratives, thus the project both re-looks at the past whilst itself contributing a new layer of new history to the site. Mistaken Presence is curated by Alan Armstrong and John Plowman. Read more...
